Our summer art programs offer five afternoons (or mornings!) of safe, fun and challenging art classes from Monday to Friday. The instructor is Shirley Hart along with her team of teenage assistants, the same as our very popular after school programs.

Media Circus uses drawing, painting, modelling clay, and a variety of crafts and learning activities suitable for artistic young minds at all levels of accomplishment. The emphasis is on creative self-expression and enjoyment while learning and exploring.

We're willing to include 6 year olds if they have enough experience with a formal classroom setting and can work independently, or if they're coming with an older sibling.

Thanks to the support of our sponsors Harvard Broadcasting, Painted Hand Community Development Corporation, SaskLotteries and the City of Yorkton we are able to offer these week-long programs at a cost of $15, including art materials and a healthy snack.

Call Godfrey Dean Art Gallery (306) 786-2992 to register, or email gdag@sasktel.net

2017 Photography Workshop Series
Digital Camera Basics - classes are now complete

Explore and understand camera fundamentals, composition, and diverse approaches to making striking images shooting still life, architecture, portraits and people.

The classes are based on DSLR or mirrorless cameras and often welcome guest photographers such as Kristopher Grunert and Barbara Rindisbacher. Many opportunities for hands-on experience including working with still life set ups and live subjects in a variety of lighting situations. Bring your questions and we'll help you find the answers.

Every week our goal is to have you start taking pictures within the first 30 minutes of the class.

When you register we'd like to find out what camera you use and what kind of photographs you like to take. This will help us be prepared. To make sure you can find the settings you need on your camera, everyone is asked to either bring their manuals or be able to access them online using the free internet at the gallery.

Our extremely popular after school classes are continuing on Saturdays. With the same classroom format, and the same fun and educational activities, the gallery is able to continue offering classes with Shirley Hart and her team of enthusiastic young assistants!

Drop In On Art uses drawing, painting, modelling clay, and a variety of crafts and learning activities suitable for artistic young minds at all levels of accomplishment. The emphasis is on creative self-expression and enjoyment while learning and exploring.

Please note we've adjusted the age range to 7-12 to ensure that children have some formal classroom experience before coming into the program. Six year olds may be considered depending on their experience, especially if they have been in a Grade 1 classroom since September.

The fee is $1 per class, including all art supplies and a healthy snack, thanks to generous investment in the community by the Painted Hand Community Development Corporation, Harvard Broadcasting and SaskLotteries.
